Teach Wallpaper New Tricks

An idea from Grace Bonney – Design Sponge at Home www.designsponge.com

Hmm… I know you are thinking we sell wallpaper, so how obvious it is that the first blog I write is about wallpaper!!!  OK I admit it, l like wallpaper, and I was pleased to see that so does Grace Bonney, author of Design Sponge at home.  “Wallpaper’s not just for, well, walls.”

Wallpaper can be used for covering lumpy bumpy walls, to highlight a chimney breast, or create a feature wall, but if you fancy something a bit different, how about wallpapering the ceiling?  Unlike Michelangelo, we are not all a dab hand with a paintbrush so wallpapering the ceiling suddenly sounds like a plan.

Why cover the ceiling at all I hear you ask? Well according to Elle Decor, isn’t it time to get rid of that white stucco ceiling and seize that missed decorating opportunity?  The time has come to add colour and pattern to your ceiling.

Don’t miss a great opportunity to cover up those cracks in the ceiling by using bold, patterned wallpaper (better still design your own).

Not feeling confident about wallpapering the ceiling (me neither!).   So why not start small?  Consider wallpapering a stairwell, adding pattern, which as we all know is very in at the moment.  Using a bold colour in a sea of white adds interest to an otherwise uninspiring space.

For those of you who have utilised your loft space or have low ceilings and dorma windows, another perfect opportunity to add some interest to a room is to wallpaper the odd walls that pop up around the house.  Go ahead be brave and add a splash of colour and interest to your home.
